Cloudiness in eye lenses, which were initially clear, is known as a cataract.
With 800 000 operations per year, cataract surgery is one of the most common operations in Germany. At DOmed, we also regularly perform this low-risk, extremely promising procedure, and therefore have plenty of experience.
Treatment of the cataract
There are no therapeutic drug treatments available for treating cataracts. The only successful treatment option is an operation. The appropriate time for the procedure depends on the extent to which the patient feels affected in their everyday life by the decline in their vision. While in the past cataract surgery was usually carried out at a very late stage, today the cataract operation can already be carried out when the diagnosis and the first visual impairments are confirmed.

Femto cataract surgery
We make use of a state-of-the-art operational method with the femtolaser, which enables us to implant the artificial lens without the use of a traditional scalpel. We use this method for treating cataracts and presbyopia.
In this form of operative cataract treatment, we remove the cloudy lens from the eye and replace it with a clear artificial lens. This allows light to reach the retina unimpeded, restoring your clear vision once more.
