YAG iridotomy for glaucoma
For closed angle glaucoma, an extremely narrow drainage angle can give rise to the risk of an acute attack of glaucoma, which poses a dangerous ophthalmological emergency with acute risk of blindness.
In order to improve circulation of the intraocular fluid and reduce the risk of an acute attack of glaucoma, the YAG laser is used to create a small opening in the iris.
