With the minimal-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), the intraocular pressure which is the most important risk factor of glaucoma is lowered.
In this short, pain-free procedure, the tissue in the trabecular meshwork of the drainage angle is treated with a laser, so that the intraocular fluid can drain better, reducing the intraocular pressure.
In a cyclophotocoagulation procedure, a laser beam causes the so-called ciliary body, which produces fluid in the eye, to atrophy. This reduces the production of eye water and results in a reduction in intraocular pressure.
YAG iridotomy is used to create intraocular fluid drainage holes for compensating intraocular pressure.
