After the operation

Directly after the surgery, you may experience a burning, itching or foreign body sensation in the operated eye. In rare cases, patients may also experience slight pain. This is mostly caused by the bandage contact lens which will be removed again by us on the first day after the operation.

Both eyes may water, be red and your vision will probably be blurred and distorted. These symptoms should recede over the first days after the operation.

In general, you should avoid all activities which could expose your operated eye to impacts and blows during the first weeks after the surgery. In the first days post-surgery, you should refrain from rubbing your eyes, bringing them into contact with water and not do any sports. Do not apply any cosmetics or lotions to the eye area and refrain from doing contact sports (e.g. karate, squash) for four weeks.

During the first 24 hours after the operation, the surgeon will be available for you on the telephone number provided to you on the day of the surgery.
